The two girls wanted to have their pictures taken as part of their confirmation celebration. They are best friends, going to school together, and wanted to take both some individual portraits and some shots of them together. The girls very quickly responded to my instructions, and soon they both really made their personality shine through I had fun shooting you girls, hope you liked it too Below are some shots from the session. I have had the joy of photographing other kids and other families lately… and in a very little amount of time learning a little about the “family chemistry” being unique in each and every family is incredible exiting. The biggest challenge, though, is to capture all it’s uniqueness through the lens. Below are some captures taken a couple of weeks ago of two really cool little guys Enjoy!

This little ballerina had her first performance together with the rest of the girls in her dance group in front of more than 800 spectators in Olavshallen this weekend … it was a amazing experience, both for the little one and her parents! And being allowed to wear make-up seemed to make her day

Hm.. is all this “reflection of my life” a result of getting older?

Q: How do you sharpen your images?

A: To me, sharpening is the last step of my photoshop editing workflow. There are lots of ways of doing sharpening in PS, but I prefer the High Pass Filter way of sharpening my images.

1: Open and edit your photo in Photoshop.
2: For simplicity in this tutorial, flatten your image (if you have several layers) by selecting menu “Layer” and “Flatten Image”
3: Create a copy of the background layer by e.g. dragging the background layer down to the “new layer” button, so that you end up having a copy of your background layer:

4: Select the new background copy layer, add High Pass Filter from menu “Filter” – “Other” – “High Pass”. Select a pixel radius where the underlying image BARELY can be shown, like in the example below, and select OK:



5: And here’s the trick; various blending-modes work with a “high passed” filtered layer. Personally I usually prefer “Linear Light” (see black ring in image below), but try out other blending modes like e.g. Overlay, Soft Light or Hard Light. Try it out and find out what you like If the sharpening effect is too harsh, reduce Opacity on the high passed layer.

This photo is taken in the afternoon, and the light from the setting sun is reflected from the mountain tops.

Just wanted to share a couple of shots taken while preparing for three(!) weddings I am going to photograph in February. I am really excited about getting the opportunity to capture the most important day for some really wonderful couples I have always found a lot of inspiration in wedding photography, and can’t wait to get going
