It was pouring down, and the weather seemed if it would spoil the entire wedding… but Janicke and Arne turned the most rainy day so far this year into a day filled with light and laughter. I feel blessed to be given the opportunity to capture your most important day. You are a lovely couple!

The weekend was spent in London together with my wife, and we had a couple of wonderful days! Just letting go of the crazy hectic everyday is recommended from time to time… I brought my camera, and took some snapshots during the weekend… OK, I admin it; I’m no typical “tourist” photographer. So please go easy on these weird shots…

I had the joy of having a pre-wedding photography session with Janicke and Arne a couple of weeks before their big day. We had a great session, even if the weather wasn’t all on our side. We are crossing fingers for real summer on the “real” happening Anyway, you are a really great couple; I really enjoyed the little photo session we had!

Abstract beauty

My father loves flowers, and he loves to have them all around. Inside the house, outside, all over. I saw one of these bouquets he loves last time I visited, and got the inspiration to take this dreamy little shot. I simply took the bouquet outside to get proper lighting, and … voilà…. When getting real close, nothing can compare with the beauty of flowers.

Sometimes beautiful pictures are taken, and for some reason get “lost” among lots of other pictures… I recently found these highly random snapshots taken last autumn.. but for some reason, I kind of forgot to bring them out “in the light” where they belong. So a little blog post showing these pictures feels just right.

I love the little love story between father and son being expressed through these snapshots. I love the “casual” feeling… and the light that day gave the pictures an extra “snap”

Not sure if the expression on the little one in the lower right photo is caused by something really exciting… or if it’s just a yawn due to a boring photographer

Sometimes a song says more than 1000 words (or was it a picture?? ). “Better together” by Jack Johnson – this peculiar little song was (amongst others) played during their reception to a slideshow of pictures from their childhood. And for some strange reason I’ve gotten this song on my mind… also because I think it fits so well to the lovely couple.

Photography Q&A // Photoshop sharpening

From time to time I get questions about how I do this and that related to photography, so I have decided I will do some blog posts where share some of my small tricks related to photography and editing. If this can help out one of you out there, my goal with this post is reached

Q: How do you sharpen your images?

A: To me, sharpening is the last step of my photoshop editing workflow. There are lots of ways of doing sharpening in PS, but I prefer the High Pass Filter way of sharpening my images.

1: Open and edit your photo in Photoshop.
2: For simplicity in this tutorial, flatten your image (if you have several layers) by selecting menu “Layer” and “Flatten Image”
3: Create a copy of the background layer by e.g. dragging the background layer down to the “new layer” button, so that you end up having a copy of your background layer:

4: Select the new background copy layer, add High Pass Filter from menu “Filter” – “Other” – “High Pass”. Select a pixel radius where the underlying image BARELY can be shown, like in the example below, and select OK:

5: And here’s the trick; various blending-modes work with a “high passed” filtered layer. Personally I usually prefer “Linear Light” (see black ring in image below), but try out other blending modes like e.g. Overlay, Soft Light or Hard Light. Try it out and find out what you like If the sharpening effect is too harsh, reduce Opacity on the high passed layer.

Photographing my own brother and his beautiful wife Marianne at their most important day became a much more emotional experience than I first anticipated. It also turned out to be my most extraordinary photographic event for me in a very long time. The full blog post from their wedding will come later… but just wanted to publish a little sneak preview
